Please join Wendy’s Subway Saturday, June 29th for the all-ages community art project Birds of Gaza, led by Milah Libin and Kayla Ephros (of Mishou Magazine and Dizzy Books). During this workshop, participants will craft paper birds to honor and remember the children murdered in Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Each participant will choose a child for whom they will create and dedicate a handmade paper bird. View the growing Birds of Gaza database here.
Although all ages are welcome, this workshop prioritizes youth under the age of 16. Given this, please note that your registration does not guarantee entry, and that we will follow up to confirm your spot.
Issues of Mishou Magazine will be available to purchase, with 100% of sales going to Gaza mutual aid. The donations from this workshop will also be going to The Samer Project, a Gaza mutual aid fund.
About the facilitators
Kayla Ephros is an artist, poet, and educator based in Los Angeles. She co-founded the interdisciplinary poetry residency at the Kesey Farm and co-edits Mishou Magazine.
Milah Libin is an interdisciplinary artist and publisher based in Brooklyn, New York. She is the founder and Senior Publisher of Dizzy Books, where she is the Editor-in-Chief of the art journal Dizzy Magazine, the children’s art magazine Mishou, and art books and picture books. Alongside these publications, Milah produces Dizzy TV, leads workshops for kids, and hosts screenings that are free to the public.
