MOLD is divesting from the internet. Our last day of publication will be June 20, 2025, the day of the summer solstice in our home base of New York City. Our energies, resources and gifts will transition to the work of Field Meridians, our sister project, an artist collective rooted in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, committed to creating tools for ecological resilience through social practice. We are choosing to invest in livingness, in tending to all the species that call this place home, and in building hyperlocal community through networks of care.

Since 2013 we have facilitated a global conversation about designing a more just, accessible, and joyful relationship with our food. Through the original reporting we published both online and in print, we have challenged our community of creative practitioners to imagine and build a world guided by the principles of food sovereignty—communities have the right to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and the right to define their own food and agricultural systems. We are proud that we have remained wholly independent and committed to the integrity of our work. We have remained advertising free and resisted calls to enclose our content in the service of generating capital. We believe that knowledge should be freely and generously shared.

With this same sense of intention and care, we will use the last half of 2025 to transform our online site to an archive. With your input and collaboration, we hope that the site will remain useful as a place of inspiration and a resource for the future. Beginning in March, we will host monthly open office hours via Zoom where we invite you, our community, to join us in sharing models, and imagining possible shapes for our online archive. You can sign up for our newsletter here to receive updates or send us a note at editors [at] thisismold [dot] com.

For those who are interested in our physical archive of print issues, there are still a few left. You can support the work of MOLD through our online shop—all proceeds from our sales supports the work of MOLD and Field Meridians now and into the future.

In this time of overwhelming grief and uncertainty, we call on you to root down into your communities and use your energies, resources, and gifts to build living infrastructures with the people and the places where you live.

In solidarity,

Team MOLD
