We first fell in love with Los Angeles-based photographer Jonpaul Douglass’ work when we stumbled across his Pizza in the Wild series, featuring his beloved pug and countless pepperoni pies in situ. The humorous turn on portraiture combined our love of environmental photography with pizza…what else could we ask for? Douglass’s personal project was just a glimpse at the humor and light touch he brings to his commercial work for clients that include Instagram, NBC’s The Voice, Microsoft, Converse and the NBA.

For MOLD’s design week newspaper, SNACKS #01, Douglass created “Stale-fish,” a play on the name of a skateboarding maneuver pioneered by Tony Hawk in the ’80s where the rider grabs the heel edge of the board with the rear hand. Douglass told MOLD about his creative process, “I love to create, and I never stop.”
